History

Power’s undertakers was established in Ferrybank in 1886, but before that the business goes back on the maternal side (O’ Neills of Sally Park) to the 1840’s.

Catherine (Katie) O’Neill of Sally Park married Tom Power of Farnogue, Mullinavat in 1896 and since then the business has passed form father to son. Martin Power married Mary Bolger of Fahee, Bigwood and they took over in 1944 when old Tom died. They were helped by their son Tom in the 50’s and 60’s and then Tom and his wife Margaret (nee Roche) form St. Mullins, took the reins in 1971 after Martins death. In 1983 Tom and Margaret built a Funeral Home in Abbeylands, Ferrybank – a new concept at that time. Now another generation has come on board – Tom’s oldest son Martin and his wife Claire (nee Aylward) Rochestown Glenmore have taken charge.

Throughout all these changes the focus has always been on providing the best possible service to the bereaved and the preparation and presentation of the bodies of their loved ones in a caring and professional way.

We are always here after the funeral if you need help or advice so if there is anything else we can do to assist you please do not hesitate to contact us.
